Programming Your DIRECTV Genie Remote Control with Code

If you have a Genie remote control, there are automatic and manual pairing processes – plus a third option for TVs that support DIRECTV. We started with the automatic clutch process.

The program DirecTV Genie Remote Control for your HDTV or audio device

Use these instructions to program DirecTV Genie remote control automatically.

Step 1: Point the Genie remote control to your HD Genie DVR, Genie Mini, or Wireless Genie Mini.

Step 2: Press and hold the “Mute” and “Enter” button while pointing the “genie remote keypad” at your device. Leave the green light on the remote control blink twice.

Step 3: The TV will display on the screen “turn to the IR or RF Settings”. This means you are in RF mode – it’s time to program DirecTV Genie Remote control.

Step 4: Turn on the device that you have paired with your remote device.

Step 6: Select Settings and Help> Settings> Remote Control> Remote Control Program.

Step 7: Complete the instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.

Manually Program Genie Remote to TV:

Navigate the Genie remote control on your HD Genie DVR, Genie Mini, or Wireless Genie Mini.

Step 1: Press and hold the mute button and select button while pointing the remote at your device. Play when the green light on the remote control blinks twice.

Step 2: Enter 9-6-1.

Step 3: Press the channel button up.

Step 4: Press enter.

Step 5: If “the remote has been set to RF” appears on your TV screen, then select “OK”.

Step 6: Turn on the device you want to pair.

Step 7: Press menu.

Step 8: Select Settings and Help> Settings> Remote Control> Remote Control Program.

Step 9: Select the device you want to pair with and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.

Your remote must now be paired and ready to use!
